This is a Relief, Sessional/Relief vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

As a Relief Worker you’ll provide support and advice to people experiencing homelessness. You’ll make sure customers feel comfortable, can manage their tenancy and signpost to other support such as housing, health and welfare. As a Relief Worker we will offer you shifts we have available and you will be able to pick the shifts that suit you

Job requirements

  • Provide flexible, compassionate support to customers with complex needs, including homelessness, substance use, mental health.
  • Cover reception tasks including phones calls, handling post and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the buildings and residents.
  • Provide advice on housing, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary.
  • Help arrange appointments for customers with GPs and DWP.
  • Monitor and act to minimise anti-social behaviour, diffusing difficult or dangerous situations, and manage conflict with sensitivity.
  • Report and monitor maintenance issues, supporting benefits access and address arrears early.

What we’re looking for

  • A flexible and reliable approach to shift work, including covering shifts in other 24/7 schemes when needed.
  • An understanding of providing excellent customer support in a housing or supported living environment.
  • Confidence to handle crisis situations, manage conflict and de-escalate difficult behaviour.
  • A willingness to take responsibility for health and safety, including completing checks and following policies.
  • Ability to adapt and creatively overcome barriers.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • DBS check.
