Do you enjoy being front of house, have great customer service skills and a passion for working in an environment supporting vulnerable adults who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantages? If so, then we would love to hear from you. Previous experience of the sector is not required as this role provides a great opportunity to learn on the job. Also, within the team there is a wealth of information that can be drawn from, and training will be provided.

Many of our staff have started in duty roles and have then gone on to progress into more senior roles. The duty role provides an excellent starting point for future careers in the sector.

We’re looking for a Waking Night Worker to be the first point of contact to customers at our male or female scheme during the night. You’ll provide support, manage access to the building, deal with emergencies and carry out health and safety checks.

Job requirements

  • Work independently during the night at either our male or female scheme.
  • Carry out regular checks within the scheme and monitor CCTV and external doors to make sure the scheme is secure.
  • Make sure the scheme is kept clean and safe.
  • Spend time talking to residents, especially those more likely to be seen at night.
  • Deal with enquiries such as telephone calls and any other administrative duties.
  • Update systems to make sure all events during the night are recorded.
  • Maintain a friendly and supportive environment within the scheme.
  • Provide handovers to the manager and day staff every morning. You’ll detail any incidents, safeguarding concerns or work to be handed over and make sure all information is recorded accurately on the relevant systems.

What we’re looking for

  • Someone with a genuine understanding and compassion for people without a home, who won’t judge but instead will empower customers and give them a voice.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach and someone able to work around the needs of the customer.
  • Some experience dealing with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.
  • Some experience dealing with complex/ difficult behaviours in relation to people experiencing multiple disadvantages.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Lived experience would be an advantage.
  • Someone able to drive and use their own vehicle for work to visit other schemes when necessary.

We’ll be interviewing as we go so might close the application process early if we find the right person.
